The English Bookshop is a working bookshop with an active literary community. The shop hosts both writing workshops and critique groups for aspiring and working writers.
The writing workshops, designed to assist both novice and advanced writers to develop and/or advance their skills sets.
The Writers Studio Amsterdam is based on the successful 25-year-old program founded in New York by 2008 Pulitzer Prize winner Philip Schultz. 10-week sessions are held throughout the year, offering beginning and experienced writers a supportive community where they can free up their imaginations, learn how to create a compelling narrative voice, and receive professional critique and support. We also hold a number of critique groups at the bookshop, including a poetry and novel group. These critique groups are informal and an ideal place to have your on-going work evaluated by other members of the local community.
